Office Policies/Procedures:
The following are UMA Behavioral Health LLC policies and procedures to consider prior to making an appointment to see our provider:
- 1-We will provide you with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and medication
- 2-We accept patients from ages 18 years and older within Maryland and the District of Columbia
- 3-We manage patients with an active diagnosis of ADHD with non-stimulant medications, following a thorough assessment and a Test of Variable Attention (T.O.V.A) by a Psychologist.
- 4-We manage ADHD with non-stimulant medications alternatives to Adderall, Vyvanse, or Ritalin).
- 5-We Do not treat anxiety with Benzodiazepines such as Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, or the like. If you are taking these medications presently, we are willing to work with you to discontinue these classes of medications and suggest alternatives gradually.
- 6-We do not provide pain management with controlled substances such as narcotics, etc.
- 7-Our practice is not equipped for crisis management, and as such, if you are in a state of emergency or life-threatening event during or outside of our normal business hours, please be advised to seek emergency treatment elsewhere-call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Appointment Policies:
At UMA Behavioral Health LLC
, we strive to accommodate patients in clear need of mental health care. We, therefore, asked our established and prospective patients to observe the following:
- 1-We ask that you provide the office with a 48-hour notice if you know you will not be able to keep your appointment(cancellation or rescheduling) to enable our staff the opportunity to schedule other patients on our waitlist.
- 2-These is a $80.00 cancellation or a no-call or no-show service fee
- 3-Please Arrive 15 minutes early if you are a new patient. Arriving more than 15 minutes late for your appointment will result in automatic cancellation or rescheduling
- 4-In the event you are unable to keep your appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, please contact our office.
- 5-Repeated missed appointments or Tardiness may result in automatic discharge from our practice to make room for others who are in desperate need of care. Similarly, repeated cancellations or no-shows will result in denial of medication refills. We asked that you check with your pharmacy to determine if you have more refills before you call our office to request a refill.

- 1-We do not offer Psychiatric Evaluation or Medication management for medical clearance, Legal matters, disability evaluation or approvals, or Employment. We will, however, evaluate these cases on our established patients by a separate appointment only.
- 2-There is a $55 service fee for communications involving outside agencies, including medical record reviews or any issues requiring significant time outside our regularly scheduled appointments.
- 3-The interaction with other providers who are involved in providing you appropriate mental health care, such as medication refills, prior authorization requests, or returning phone calls or emails, is not subject to service fees.
Prescriptions and medication refills
Here at UMA Behavioral Health LLC, we pride ourselves in maintaining the safety and stability of our patients; as such, we ask the following favors:
- 1-Request medication changes or refills during regularly scheduled visits. We will refill the prescribed medication enough to last until the next scheduled visit.
- 2-Scheduled appointment frequency will be determined during the scheduled visit, in consideration of the complexity and acuity of illness and stability of lab monitoring
- 3-In the case of unforeseen circumstances where you are unable to keep your appointment, our provider will provide a bridge to your refills to avoid treatment interruption as a one-time courtesy. If, for any reason, a patient is not seen or evaluated by our provider beyond three months, a follow-up visit is required to evaluate mediation and lab results, if any, to continue medication refills.

- 1-To maintain patient confidentiality, all medical records are HIPAA compliant; as such, patients must sign a release of information (ROI) to have their information sent to another healthcare provider.
- 2-Please provide your legal name, phone number, and fax number of the facility or provider you want your records sent.
